New Study Links Nutiani Phospholipids to Improved Stress Management | Nutiani

When it comes to managing wellbeing, people around the world are prioritising stress, according to our consumer research.

 

And our latest study in conjunction with New Zealand universities shows Nutiani phospholipids can help consumers better manage their stress symptoms.

 

The researchers also found positive results in supplementation of phospholipids and reducing stress, with positive trends indicating a possible impact on anxiety and depression.

Phospholipids are the fundamental building blocks of the human brain; however, they decline as we age, potentially leading to lower levels of focus and possibly also higher incidence of stress and moodiness. It is proven that phospholipids cross the blood-brain barrier, and they are clinically proven to help individuals stay focused and positive under stress. 

 

#DidYouKnow: Nutiani Phospholipids are broad-spectrum phospholipids that contain major phospholipids and sphingolipids – including Phosphatidylserine, Phosphatidylcholine, Phosphatidylethanolamine, Phosphatidylinositol, and Sphingomyelin.

 

To better understand the connection between phospholipid supplementation and mental health, Nutiani and a team of experts from Fonterra, the University of Auckland, and the University of Otago examined 122 adults in New Zealand, aged between 25 to 60 years old.

Participants were provided with either Nutiani Phospholipids or a placebo mix to consume daily with beverages or over cereal.

After research and data collection over 12 weeks, the resulting study, published in the Journal of Functional Foods, found a clear link between supplementation and stress response, with a 45% reduction in mean stress scores of those who had consumed the phospholipids.

Data collected on the first week, week six, and week 12 also suggested there may be an optimal dose to reduce stress symptoms effectively.

According to co-author of the research paper, Dr. Maher Fuad, (MBChB, MPH, PhD, PGDip Clinical Research), Research Clinician/Health and Nutrition Science Team, Fonterra, the findings align with earlier literature, while also extending current understanding on the role phospholipids play in stress management.

Dr Fuad will present this research at the International Society for the Study of Fatty Acids and Lipids (ISSFAL) 2023 Congress in Nantes, France from 2 July to 5 July 2023.
